Jim Johnson will likely handle the closers role until Ray is activated. Ray is on a rehab assignment and should be ready to return within a week.

Billy Wagner has apparently suffered another setback and will not be returning any time soon. MRI studies showed additional swelling in his ailing elbow despite the rest he has given it. The Mets are still hoping he can return this season, but must go forward without him for now. (AP)
FANTASY INSIGHT:
Aaron Heilman and the rest of the bullpen will share the closing duties according to matchups. Wagner could be done for the season, so don't hold your breath waiting for his return.

FANTASY INSIGHT:
The Rays need Percival if they are to contend in the post season. Surgery would jeopardize his availability. The only question is whether or not the injury will affect his ability to pitch effectively.

Duchscherer has been less effective lately, and the hip problem could be the reason. He has pitched many more innings this season than ever before and it could be taking its toll. Tread carefully when considering whether to use him down the stretch.

The Dodgers have cut a deal with the Padres to acquire pitcher Greg Maddux. It is not known what the Padres will receive in return for the 42-year-old hurler. An announcement from the two teams is expected Tuesday. (LA Times)
FANTASY INSIGHT:
Maddux brings a stablizing presence to the LA starting rotation as the replacement for the ailing Brad Penny. His fantasy value also ticks up a bit as he moves to a better overall team.

The injury to Ian Kinsler turned out to be more serious than initially thought, as he was placed on the 15 day DL and could be done for the season with what is being called a sports hernia. Kinsler will have his groin examined by a specialist either Tuesday or Wednesday and may have to have surgery to repair it. (Dallas Morning News)
FANTASY INSIGHT:
If you own Kinsler on your fantasy team you will need to find a replacement for him as it appears he is done.

Adam Wainwright should be back with the Cardinals next week, though the team has yet to reveal what his role will be. There is some speculation that he will close games, but ultimately his role will be determined by the status of Chris Carpenter. If Carpenter cannot rejoin the starting rotation, then Wainwright will likely be needed as a starter. (MLB.com)
FANTASY INSIGHT:
Wainwiright was the Cardinals best pitcher before hurting his finger and going on the DL. He has fantasy value no matter what his role with the team.
